Nearby Hartford boasts the Hartford Symphony, the Hartford Ballet and Connecticut Opera. Outdoor activities in the area include fishing, hiking, camping, golf, horseback riding and mountain biking. Downhill and cross country skiing is only a short drive to both the Berkshires and Vermont. The Connecticut seashore is close by for water lovers and the Mystic Seaport and Aquarium are also located within a short drive from Simsbury. Fertile farmland lies along both sides of the Farmington River through Weatogue, borders the town center, and then stretches to Tarrifville. The hills of the valley are a scenic backdrop. Off Route 185 is the entrance to Talcott Mountain State Park and the Heublein Tower, the Valley's most visible landmark. Descending route 185 are two well groomed farm estaes that serve as an informal gateway to Margaret Patricelli's Folly farm, an outstanding equestrian center that regularly hosts charitable events. Across the road, Brian Foley and Lisa Wilson-Foley put smiles on faces of passerby's with the collection of exotic animals and seasonally decorated red barns. Moving north, Terry's Plain connects East Weatogue to Tarrifville. On the way is Curtis Park popular amoung youth soccar programs. Ahead is a precipitous drop in the river's level at Tarriffville gorge which test even the most skillful enthusiasts. A frequent site of national canoe and kayak competitions, the gorge's whitewater power spurred the development industries that connected one part of town to the other. First Time Buyers >A Matter of Timing
Buying real estate can sometimes involve tricky timing. For example, you may have found the perfect house and are thinking about making an offer, but are feeling pressured to make a decision just when you want time to consider the matter. The agent tells you that another party is thinking about making an offer, so you shouldn't hesitate if you really want the house. What should you do? Trust your agent!
It is natural to feel some pressure from even the most easy-going real estate agent--and some uncertainty about making an offer. If you really like a house, there is always the possibility that someone else will share your enthusiasm for it. Whether your local market is active or sluggish, it is sensible to assume that another offer is likely to come in. Perhaps you can afford to "sleep on it", but moving as quickly as possible will minimize the possibility that the house will go to another buyer.
